Denis Harrington, who until recently was head of sales for Boston Scientific Corp.’s cardiovascular and CRM business, has left the company to become president and CEO of a Twin Cities startup called BridgePoint Medical Inc.
Harrington has replaced BridgePoint co-founder Chad Kugler as the five-year-old company’s top executive, according to a company news release. Kugler is staying with the company as chief operating officer.
Harrington has been at Boston Scientific (NYSE: BSX) and SciMed for the past 18 years, and has more than 22 years experience in the medical technology business.
Plymouth, Minnesota-based BridgePoint is developing technologies meant to treat severe blockages in patients’ arteries. It recently completed a $9.1 million round of financing, led by a new strategic investor and joined by existing investors New Enterprise Associates, Polaris Venture Partners, Foundation Medical Partners and Michael Berman.
